How your recommendation is calculated

We check both lens powers

Sphere and cylinder work together. The tool checks both principal powers in each eye instead of looking at SPH alone.

We match your playing environment

Indoor play starts with clear lenses, outdoor play with sun lenses, and mixed environments with photochromic lenses.

BlueCut confirms the final combination

Frame shape, measurements, prescription design, and lens availability are checked before your lenses are produced.

How does the tool determine my prescription strength?

The tool checks both principal powers in each eye: SPH and SPH + CYL. It then uses the strongest absolute power across both eyes to recommend a starting lens index.

Why can CYL change the recommended index?

CYL adds a second power to the lens. For example, SPH -6.50 with CYL -2.00 contains principal powers of -6.50 and -8.50, so both values matter.

Does a higher lens index always mean a better lens?

Not necessarily. The best index provides the right balance of thickness, comfort, and performance for your prescription. Higher-index lenses become more helpful as prescription strength increases.

Should I choose photochromic or sun lenses?

Photochromic lenses are convenient when you move between indoor and outdoor environments. Dedicated sun or polarized lenses are often a better starting choice when you play only outside in bright light or strong glare.

Why might the recommendation change after I choose a frame?

Frame size, shape, lens position, and your measurements can influence the finished lens. Once you select a frame, BlueCut will confirm the best lens and frame combination for your prescription.
