The Air Force veteran went viral after sharing a video of himself playing pickleball on the icy terrain of Antarctica. With no proper net and a snowy “court,” the clip sparked global interest, showing just how far this growing sport has traveled.

The Antarctic pickleball video wasn’t exactly a planned event. Wood and a fellow service member headed out to the parking apron, where the surface was flat and firm enough to give it a shot. With temperatures around five degrees Fahrenheit and no net in sight, they rallied back and forth. Wood chuckles, admitting it wasn’t a game of finesse—there wasn’t much dinking, just plenty of lobs!

“Next time I think we probably need to put up a net” Wood said, “that would make it a little more legit.”‍
